Pete's Pond - LIVE African savannah
National Geographic have set up a 24-hour live Internet video feed from Pete's Pond in deepest southern Africa. A high-resolution camera captures any movement it sees and records 20 to 25 images every second. The images are bounced off a satellite 22,500 miles above the equator. This signal is then picked up somewhere else, where it is streamed on to the Internet. The images are not brilliant but frame rate is just sufficient to make the animals visible. I've seen elephants, ostriches, antelope and wild pigs. I also think that I've heard a lion. The best time to tune in is in the morning, UK time. You can take a walk on the wild side at:

26 Shotokan Kata's
The kata is an individual style-element which follows a set ground-pattern and a series of principal forms as representation of a real fight against 4 or more imaginary opponents. Important points during the performance of a kata, besides correct techniques, are rhythm, relaxation and breathing.
I used to do Karate for quite a while, mrsmule has recently lit a long extinguished flame under my ass since she has taken up the sport at work. We can now occasionally be seen practising Katas in the front room.
Trying to remember the moves is slow and painful, so I was most please to find this site with all 26 Shotokan Kata's in .MOV (quicktime) format.

TV Weather Forecaster retires
BRITAIN'S longest-serving TV weatherman Michael Fish retires today after 30 years.
Michael Fish's broadcasting career began in 1971 when he started forecasting for BBC Radio and in January 1974 he became part of BBC Television's weather team.
I think Mr Fish is a star!.. all through my childhood he read the forecast and up to recently when I can really appreciate his skills as perhaps one of the best TV weather persons out there.
The moustachioed presenter is best known for his notorious gaffe ahead of the Great Storm of 1987 – the worst in 300 years.
In the infamous broadcast the weatherman told viewers: "Earlier on today apparently a lady rang the BBC and said she heard that there was a hurricane on the way. Well, don’t worry if you’re watching, there isn’t."

Fake Qee
I thnk the major differences here are:
A: The blue ear joint to the head is narrow.
B: The original has a curved 'pelvis' the fake is sharp/almost has a corner
C: The fake has a larger gap at the hand join and the sleeve is flared out more
D: The arm/hand of the fake is longer
I can't see much difference in the left ear, body or the legs though.
Also I guess this is just for the Cat model, cause my Dog has completely different arms?!.. go figure?!?!

31 mistakes and counting
Movie mistakes dot com has a list of (now) 31 mistakes from the Spiderman 2 film in sections like: Factual error, Plot hole and Continuity.
example:
On the way to the theater Peter intercepts a police officer chasing a couple of criminals. At the end of that scene one of the police cars has a tremendous wreck that swings the car sideways. There is a clear shot of the driver with a black helmet on.
Another thing that i looked up while I was there was how Ripley survives the airlock opening in Aliens, According to my beliefs, she would have had no chance of surviving the hatch opening with the mother dangling from her leg, surely.... here's what moviemastakes says:
At the end, when Ripley has her arm slung through that rung in the airlock and the queen alien is hanging from her foot AND the decompression that has everything in the cargo hold whipping by her head...she only loses a shoe as the queen is swept into space? By all rights, shouldn't only her arm be left dangling there?
And here from e film critic
Aliens: Ripley blows the Queen out of the airlock.
(This scene is by far one of the most unrealistic things I have ever seen! That Ripley must be pretty strong to hold onto a ladder with a Queen hanging onto her foot and with tons of air pressure sucking out the oxygen!)

The titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) is a native of the sultry equatorial rainforests of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where it is known as bunga bangkai, the corpse flower. Plants grow from a potato-like underground tuber, which produces umbrella-shaped leaves 10 feet high and 15 feet across. Only a single leaf is present at any one time, but it is dissected into many smaller leaflets. The whole looks something like a palm tree with a spotted green trunk, and is rather attractive. A leaf can last for several years before it withers and is replaced, all the time quietly capturing sunlight and storing food in the tuber. Eventually, after the tuber has grown to weigh as much as an average man, the corpse flower decides to bloom. The bud on the UConn plant could grow to more than six-feet-tall before it opens.

high altitude ATM
An Indian bank, which operates what it bills as the world's highest ATM in the far-eastern state of Sikkim, is hoping the cash dispenser will bring in business once a trade route to China is reopened.
The automatic teller machine, set up at an altitude of 13,200 feet (4,023 metres) along the winding route that links the Tibetan capital Lhasa to Sikkim's capital Gangtok, has been installed by UTI Bank with the help of US-based NCR Corp., which made the special machine.
Is there anything to spend your money on once you get it out?.. .Maybe the bank should open a souvineer shop and a bar too!
