After digging through our old collection of vinyl, I happened upon this tremendously cheesey song, "Thumbs up, book early" performed by Franki Woods (well my copy says Franki Woods, but apparently his name is Frankie Woods) who was children's entertainer at Prestatyn for 30 years. He wrote many works in that happy chappy George Formby style.
The flexi disk originally came with a colour brochure...
Pontins was/is an institution in British holiday making, seaside resorts resembling brightly painted detention centers with free ice cream and the best in talent, nobbly knees and limbo contests!.. wheeeeee, what fun!

Mr Mule. It's a jaunty little tune even though the banjo appears to be playing a different song entirely. Had to double the speed in Cool Edit to hear it correctly though or is that part of the joke????

hmmm I'll check the speed issue for you now.. but yes the banjo appears totally out of time!
thanks

OK well I have tested on Windows Media Player Classic, I tunes and Media Player Classic... all seem to play at normal speed. The MP3 codec used is 'Lame', the codec can be found here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Lame_Encoder.htm

Well, Mr Mule,
I've not heard this for a few years. I was the pianist that worked with Frankie Woods for months on this project prior to recording. Although I would emphasise that this is not my composition! Not exactly my style! I do not know who the Copyright belongs to. Frankie died in 2005. I presume it belongs to Pontins. Anyway, good to hear the old song again.
