This came in the post from friends in Bridlington, UK (both pictured). I also have family living in Brid, so although I wouldn't normally comment about such extreem issues here on mrmule.com, I feel that this is too close to home.

"The two guys pictured above Mr Samms and Mr Meulen took great delight the previous Saturday in threatening to cut the throats of the BNP paper sellers - some of them retired women. These brave lads then proceeded to scream racial abuse at passers by, claiming they were doing so, “to educate people, and to illustrate what the BNP really stands for.”
Both were arrested for ‘making racial comments and intimidating people in the streets’ after police arrived following a complaint from a local shopper. Both were later released without charge. "
I won't link to the disgusting website that reported the article.. but.. nice one Mr Samms and Mr Meulen!
Please do not let Bridlington turn into a racist community, do not support the BNP, challenge their ethics, but most of all tell them they are not welcome anywhere in any civilised community.
Please Please Please read this BBC Panorama news special and the Going undercover in the BNP both about the BNP and it's far right attitudes

OOO I love kicking off a new category!
So TOYS!?!?
"WTF mule boy, you're 31 (nearly 32) and you collect little plastic lego men and 'bears' !!??? i mean what's going on??"
This is from "sweatyfrog.com"
Kubrick figures are about 2.5"- 3" tall. There are three kinds: LIMITED, REGULAR (aka Hikimono), and SET. "Limited" Kubrick Figures are found in special promotions, toy conventions, through mail-order, etc. Basically hard to find! Regular "Hikimono" Kubrick figures come individually boxed with 24 figures in a case. Their identity is unknown and what you get is a surprise. On top of this, the figures in each series have a ratio of commonality. Some figures are found 1 in every 196 boxes! YIKES! Needless to say, the rare figures go for a ton on Ebay. Some Hikimono Kubricks, like Maharishi DPM Identifiers are not assorted. "Set" Kubrick Figures come in a box set and are sold as an entire unit, such as Be@rbrick World Wide Tour. (but evrything has a price on Ebay)

Medicom Toys is one of the most unique toy companies in the world. Not only producing for mass market appeal, Medicom reaches out to designers, indy creators, and ...basically the small guys. Because of this, they produce some of the finest toys.

Medicom Toys Japan took their Kubrick, added a big belly and bear head, and voila! - the Be@rbrick was born! Artists (such as STASH, FUTURA, KAWS, PUSHEAD) and licenses (such as Kill Bill, Universal Monsters, Hello Kitty) have used the Be@rbrick as canvas to create innovative designs, making Be@rbrick the first of platform toys to be born.
QEES
This was my first Qee, It was designed by Dutch graffiti artist EWOS (limted 500 pieces)

Qees also are designed by artists, in limited runs and in blind boxes.
Characters include a cat, dog, monkey, bear, egg, Toyer & wolf
They created the Qee Keychain Collection, Knuckle Bear, Rolitoboy , Onion , Toyer, Baby Qee and Boyer toy lines.

So.. on with the show.
Two new ones I have found that I likey lots.
NL Flag and Graffiti legend Andre!
FLAG BE@RBRICK S9
FLAG owns a cafe in Amsterdam.
It's favorable interior and his boastful menu attract customers day and night.
Spacious floor is nice and dim, which let unique furniture cast their shadow mysteriously.
Affected shaped audio speaker plays some slow ambient dub with the volume is just right…

Shall we open the menu, and experience something new?
ISETAN?? BE@RBRICK ANDRE

Andre is a french graffiti artist famous for his smiley spindly legged character, Mr.A

© BE@RBRICK TM & © 2001-2004 MEDICOM TOY CORPORATION. All rights reserved.
So I like these evil toys because they allow you to own a small piece of art without having to pay huge amounts for it, you get some cool designs, (I especially like the camoflague, graffiti examples) I have a number of signed toys from their respective artists, and even a canvas!
Places to buy:
Ebay of course

It's quite funny what people take photies of when they come to Utrecht, I suppose it depends on which 'skool' you belong to, but it usually evens out to, the Dom tower, the train station/double decker trains, canals, random statues, graffiti.... there was even a shot some delicious looking pancakes... (admittably it was taken in Amsterdam though), so many thanks to Dave 'aka Ronnie' Letorey for allowing me to publish a few photies from a recent trip to the Netherlands.
mmmmmm you salivate!

To kick off the new recipe section here at mrmule.com, I thought I'd introduce you all to a new favorite of mine, CONGEE (pronounced "kon-ji") or Chinese rice soup. This was you can feed four people on one and a half cups of rice!
This is a pork recipe, but you can substitute the pork for any meat/left over roasts.
There is quite a bit of preparation involved, but I cheated last night and made it in about 3 hours.

CONGEE
feeds 4 people
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of long grain rice (basmati)
2 litres of good chicken stock
salt
4 large eggs (duck eggs are specially nice)
2 dessert spoons of chinese gunpowder tea
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 star anise
1 pork fillet
*optional Ingredients:
*1/2 stick of lemon grass
*1 small finger of ginger
*2 green cardamon pods
*3 kaffir lime leaves
*1 clove of garlic
Ingredients to serve:
2 large spring onions
Soy Sauce
___RICE - PREPARATION UP TO 12 HOURS BEFORE____
Wash/Rinse the rice 3 times or until the water runs clear
Cover rice with fresh water and leave to soak for min2 hours and maximum 12hours (the longer the better)
___MEAT - PREPARATION UP TO 12 HOURS BEFORE____
If you are using leftovers, you can skip this part, otherwise marinate your meat in a nice sloppy mixture of soy sauce, grated ginger, garlic, chili peppers.
___EGGS - PREPARATION 2 HOURS BEFORE____
1. Cover the eggs with cold water in a pan, bring to the boil and cook for 8 minutes
2. When the eggs have cooked, put the pan in the sink and open the cold tap on them.
when they are cool enough to handle, gently crack the shells all over (do not remove the shell!!!)
3. Put the eggs back into the pan and cover with cold water again, add the gunpowder tea and the soy sauce and star anise, bring to the boil and simmer for 2 hours
___MAKE THE RICE SOUP 2 HOURS BEFORE____
1. Drain rice and rinse
2. Put the rice (& the optional ingredients) and a good pinch of salt in a VERY large pan/dutch pot and add 1 litre of the stock and bring to the boil
3. Turn Rice to simmer and add the remaining stock, stirring occasionally for 2 hours
___BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER (20 - 30 mis)____
By now you should have a huge pan full of what could only be described as wallpaper paste. Keep stirring!
1. Turn you oven to high, put a frying pan onto heat and sear the pork on all sides. Put the pork in the oven (cooking time about 15/20 mins)
2. Remove all the optional ingredients from the rice soup so you have no lumps/nasty suprises.
3. Shell the eggs (if you haven't already... Look at the wonderful marble effect you made!!) slice the eggs in half longways. Place them into the rice soup and stir (gently now, so as not to break up the eggs).
4. Remove the pork from the oven, leave to rest for 5 minutes, then slice very thin pieces, add it to the soup and yup, you guessed it, give it a stir!
___SERVING____
Bowls & Spoons are best for congee, you can have optional chopsticks too.
make sure everyone gets some egg and meat and a good dollop of soup.
Slice up the spring onion VERY THINLY at a jaunty 30 degree angle and make a little pile on top of each bowl.
Splash some Soy sauce over the top
Serve!
additional extras?
Prawncrackers are always good
1 or 2 drops of sesame oil
To drink?
Of course what Congee dinner could be without warm Sake!?!
ENJOY!!!

I have updated the MP3 download section of the website.

The site is powered by Netjuke, an open source script available from Sourceforge.
The Artekopia Netjuke is a Web-Based Audio Streaming Jukebox powered
by PHP 4, an increasing choice of databases and all the MP3, Ogg Vorbis,
Windows media Audio and other format files that constitute your digital
music collection. The Netjuke aims at enabling families and small
organizations or communities to run a private "mp3.com-like" Web site to
access the music they legitimately own, distribute or are granted access to.
Supports language packs (English, French, Catalan, German, Spanish),
multi-level security, shared and private playlists, random playlists,
images, etc.
See the feature list below and the rest of the documentation for more
information. See the Online Demo to give it a try before downloading
at http://netjuke.sourceforge.net/demo/ (no music or admin access).
For the latest version of this software, see:
- Preferred Site: http://netjuke.sourceforge.net/
- Official Site: http://netjuke.artekopia.org/
- Alternate Site: http://netjuke.tekartists.com/
Product Features:
- Cross-platform server: Linux, BSD, Mac OS X, Windows & more
- Cross-platform and lightweight interface: MSIE, Mozilla, Netscape,
Konqueror, Galeon, etc.
- Features an easy to use browser-based install/upgrade tool to get
you started in minutes.
- Escapes the filesystem metaphor for music categorization (ie:
browsing through files and directories).
- Multi-database backend: MySQL, PostgreSQL (Oracle, MSSQL, Access &
more to come soon). This feature is made possible by the Open Source
PHP library ADODB.
Web Site: http://php.weblogs.com/ADODB/
- Recursively scans named directories for audio files (mp3, ogg & wma),
and imports them to the database in a snap. This feature is made possible
by the Open Source PHP library getid3.php.
Web Site: http://getid3.sourceforge.net/.
- Optimized for local MP3, OGG and WMA audio content, but also supports
internet radio streams, other audio formats, and/or remote content by
adding them manually.
- Quick search and advanced search options.
- Random Music Selector with filters to generate playlists.
- Music is indexed and cross-linked by artists, albums and genres.
- Features alphabetical artist and album listings, latest additions,
search filters, most popular tracks, etc.
- User-editable private and or shared audio streaming playlists.
- Multiple built-in user access levels: Admin, Editors & Users.
- Security modes: public and/or private content, activate/disable
public registration, etc.
- Optional Community section can be dynamically enabled or disabled
from the admin section.
- Language pack support: English, French, Catalan, German, Spanish (...)
- Streaming can be achieved through multiple protocols, with
appropriate audio player (http, https, rtsp, etc.).
- Supports streaming from any local or mounted directory (smb, nfs,
etc.). Now also support a limited "Radio" option as of 1.0b9.
- URL of the streamed audio files can optionally be obfuscated for
further protection against illegitimate or unwanted file downloads.
- Administrators can choose to limit music playback to the RealPlayer,
which doesn't display any file URL, therefore protecting your media
files even more.
- Administrators can optionally choose to allow for file download in
addition to streaming. Public file trading IS NOT the intent of the
author(s). Please be responsible, and get your music legally.
- Interface can be customized, and/or branded, using built-in color and
font management tools, optional static or dynamic HTML header and
footer (local or remote), etc.
- Administrator can choose to optionally let users customize their own
color and font theme.
- The application, database and music streaming servers can reside on a
single host, or separately.
- And much, much more!

So hopefully you are all using the very lovely Mozilla FireFox as your preferred internet browser (Mac users differ I guess)
OK so I just started adding some of the cool extensions, like this wicked weather forecast thingy, very subtle, very sweet.
note: I'm also using the googlebar and tabrowser preferences...any others?

Jan 2005 MIX
Crikey, at long last. Well after moving house and at least getting my decks set up, I have managed to produce a superdooper 2 hour extravaganza!.
The inspiration has come from listening to the Radio One Peel Session on 15.09.04 featuring Jeff Mills. Its a great mix with some classic tunes, you can really hear the roots of his musical career, try find it on BitTorrent if you can.
Anywho.. back to this months feast of tunes and super tracklisting. I have also made an OGG VORBIS version ..if it's of any use to anyone.
I called this months 'Influences' as it the music chosen really has had an influence on me, granted, some of these tunes are remixes.. sometimes it's really difficult to find those treasured tracks. 2 of the tracks are from mrs mules collection from her breakdancing years, so lots of Mills, Sims, Advent and a few suprises along the way.
