Blogger dismissed from Microsoft

Michael Hanscom admits it probably wasn’t the best idea. He thought the photo on his personal blog of Apple computers being offloaded at a Microsoft loading dock might get a couple of smirks from friends. He never imagined it would cost him his job.

Jessica Lynch hoax

This was the story of a young, frightened soldier, not a combat heroine;
of doctors, nurses and hospital administrators who did all they could
possibly do and more to save and care for their foreign "guest", towards
whom Arab custom would demand generous hospitality.

'Suiciders'

I think George Bush just coined a new word for the suicide bombers (I call them suicide bombers) terrorizing the Middle East. In his press conference, he called them "suiciders." I thought it was a slip and then he called them that again. "Suiciders."

Seeing Double

Astronomers Amazed at Two Huge Sunspots

It was a very cold morning today, there was low fog and mist lying on the canals, the buildings in the disyance were just dark shadows and I could look directly at the sun. For about 20 minutes while I was cycling I stared at 2 spots on the sun, firstly wondering if I was getting old and needing glasses, then realised that these must be sunspots. I havn't seen them before (and to be honest, I didn't think they would be visible with the naked eye)

heres my effort.. if you click to look at the full sized version, you can just make out a couple of spots:

I took some photies (in the gallery now)
But woo yay for cold misty mornings!

Poker getting more popular

I play poker at home.. I got some pokerchips from the U.S and we have a monthly tournament (low stakes) cause we're all friends and we don't wanna fall out.

So now it seems that after Chris Moneymakers big win, all the online poker rooms are filling up and poker is said to be making a comeback.

Mr T special

Mr T or is it Mr Team?.. someone please correct me..
If you have managed to check my GALLERY, I have been taking pics of various stuff around Holland. I really like graffiti, something about my old skool up-bringing> baggy jeans, breakdancing, graffiti.. not that I ever have done any.. but thats leading me astray.

Now I thought this Mr T dood was good, I like the clean image, cheesy grin and whopping big chin, kinda reminds me of cartoon faces I used to draw as a *gulp*...teenager.

Any who, I just noticed yesterday.. after a tip off from a guy (name?...damn!) I met while taking photies in the city center. I cycled my normal way back, also where I took the photo of the Cow Stencil which was pasted over by this GALLERY by Mr Team. I love it! and a real treat, as just the day before I caught what was perhaps a prethought to posters.

Anyway.. some Mr T on acid

Understand Your Dog

Dr. Dolittle watch out!
This crazy new device is attached to your dogs collar, when it makes a noise/growl etc. the device performs an on-the-fly English translation, like "I want food".

I wonder if it'll work on other animals?

Dr. Dolittle: This fellow obviously knows what he's talking about.
Matthew: Who wrote the book, Doctor?
Dr. Dolittle: Er. Oh, I did.

Trivia about Doctor Dolittle:
*Rex Harrison was frequently bitten by the animals.
*No one expected that shooting a scene with ducks swimming in a pond would be difficult. However, when the ducks were placed onto the pond they sank! Apparently it was the wrong time of year and the ducks had lost their water-repellent feathers and couldn't swim.

OK so now you can control 2 pcs (of differering OS WINblah and of differing locations) from one PC
You need VNC and this little bag o tricks

So I use VNC at work, what happens is I can control another PC from my desktop (or the network admin can mess with your mind and move your mouse round etc)

Now I know it's not far for me to walk round the other side of the room, but I am lazy and you have to get up, walk sit down, login.. at least I havn't got a 'x' flights of stairs to run up n down!

Schiphol to Utrecht by train

UPDATED!!!!

see latest post for Schiphol to Utrecht by train

Schiphol to Utrecht by train
Arrive at Schiphol
Follow signs for trains (do a right and a left)

ticket office
get a single to Utrecht Centraal (changing at DUIVENDRECHT)-fare 10,40

Ask the ticket cashier which platform, they're dead friendly and speak English very

well.

1st stop is Amsterdam Zuid WTC
2nd stop Amsterdam RAI
3rd stop is Duivendrecht - GET OUT

You'll arrive downstairs follow the masses and the suitcases upstairs (blue signs for

Utrecht). You'll probably find that a train arrives for Utrecht Centraal, but no-one

gets on it??!.... this is because its a 'stoptrein'. Wait 5 minutes and catch the

'sneltrein'.

Stoptrein = slow (stops at all the stations)
Sneltrein = fast (limited stops)

If you get the 'SnelTrein' to Utrecht Centraal and it's your 1st stop.. YAY

TOTAL TIME 37 MINUTES

If you get on a 'stoptrein' at Duivendrecht, fear not you'll just have to stop at

these stations:

Amsterdam Bijlmer
Abcoude
Breukelen
Maarssen
Utrecht Centraal is the 5th stop
TOTAL TIME 55 Minutes

If all has failed and nothing looks familiar you may have got on the 'stoptrein' at

Schiphol, you'll be doing all these stations:

Amsterdam Zuid WTC
Amsterdam RAI
Duivendrecht
Diemen Zuid
Weesp
Naarden-Bussum
Bussum Zuid
Hilversum Noord
Hilversum
Hilversum Sportpark
Hollandsche Rading
Utrecht Overvecht
Utrecht Centraal

TOTAL TIME 1 HOUR 10 minutes

You can also catch a train from Schiphol to Amsterdam, then change for Utrecht, it's

probably just as easy except that Amsterdam CS is very big.

For train times and online planner hit the NS website at:
http://www.ns.nl/domestic/index.cgi

Travel safely and may the force be with you

This is dead useful if you have your site hosted with say your ISP and your free webspace has the longest most boring and forgettable domain name ever. So, catch? Well yes there is one I suppose You get a tiny popup window for .TK domains

Stereophonics & Supporting Act

Location: Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam
21st October 2003
8 PM - 12 AM
€30.70

Good venue, very large and spacey and well planned on amenities. Split level and balconies on either side of the arena, the munten machines are located on every corner and are the only way you get a drink.

Silkstone were the supporting act and very good too. I had no idea they are Nederlanders. I even recognised a couple of tunes. But I really there to see the Stereophonics!
They were top. A heck of a long gig though. Loads of polite people.

Out of all the coffeeshops in Utrecht, this one is about as close as you can get to the station, not that that should be your only reason for heading off there.
